Reading and Vocabulary is an interactive online program designed for students wanting to improve their literal comprehension skills and extend their vocabulary. The program has been developed using everyday activities meaningful to students.
The Reading and Vocabulary Program is an interactive computer program designed for students who need to develop and practice basic comprehension strategies. The program comprises modules that increase in complexity.
The structure allows students to use the program based on their current capabilities rather than applying a specific year/grade/age requirement.
Students will be able to understand and respond to short informative and narrative texts. This includes the understanding of literal information and ideas leading to the making of simple inferences.
Students will interact with texts using basic sentence elements, including punctuation and topic vocabulary.
Reluctant readers and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) will have the opportunity to interact with text, both visually and by hearing text read (auditory), using an online interactive program. The program encourages participation without the danger of exposing students to the stress involved in performing (reading) for others.
